Short on inspiration? Here’s something to help you out. :) But wait, what is a plot ninja?
Plot: A college student finds a book full of empty pages. They start to write a story. But everything that happens in that story starts happening for real.
Tell the story of a mistake made in the kitchen.
“I lie awake at night thinking that marrying her was the wrong decision.”
“I’ll always be your sister. But I can’t be your friend anymore.”
"Sugar cookies are fine! You guys are freaks!"
“How do you know so much about her? Are you going to run off with her and live in the woods? Maybe the four of you can live in a cave together. You and your crazy sister can live like animals with your half-human, chicken-stealing lovers and wear sticks in your hair.”
"Woohoo! Road trip!"
"So wait, you got tazed? Individually, or all together?"
The ability to read minds turned out to be quite different than I imagined.
Have one of your own character write a NaNo that exactly mirrors your own novel.
"Whoops."
It was one of those mornings when I really wished I hadn't quit drinking.
Have your character go to a party with complete strangers.
Introduce a character that talks incessantly, even asking questions, but never allowing time for anyone to provide an answer.
Main Character is forced to take responsiblity of someone else's child for a period of time
Tell a legend of the country or place the characters are travelling through, with or without actual relevance to the story or the situation the characters are currently in.
The characters go club-hopping.
Give one of the characters a dark and twisted family secret that comes out.
You know that homeless guy/night porter/hotdog merchant that your MC rudely ignored in chapter 3? Well he nicked from her pocket and now, racked with guilt, follows your MC through the book trying to return it without her noticing.
Have a character read to other characters from a story book of some kind.
Make one of the really minor characters fall in love with your MC and send them little gifts, culminating in them professing their love for him/her/it and getting totally rejected.
Introduce some minor characters who don't really take part in the main plot, but watch major events happen and comment on them from the sidelines.
Introduce characters that speak a different language or dialect than your main character.
A person is given the "gift" (or curse) of being able to see an aura around anyone who has ever or will ever kill someone.
A new professor at some college notices one of his best students struggling and suspects that their is something else going on that is affecting her. He tries to help but there is that boundary between student/teacher involvement and that line might be pushed.
Michael was never really good with people.
Your character finds a hidden storage space while remodeling his home.
No one knew why she was laughing, except me.
Blackmail.
Character quirk: Someone who constantly uses sign language, though they can speak perfectly fine.
A high school student befriends a lonely artist. The artist begins to feature the student in his/her work. And starts to win prizes.
Character quirk: A character who refers to themself in the third person.
Introduce a character who is obsessed with one of the current presidential candidates and constantly quotes them, idolizes them, and attempts to get everyone he/she meets to vote for them in the election.
Rich daughter of a former party girl socialite runs away from home.
A man dies, and is shocked to find himself as a ghost. He can't move on until he somehow helps his wife, there being several problems with this: he doesn't have a clue what he's supposed to do for her, he can't figure out how on earth to affect or even contact the physical world in any way and, oh yeah, his wife's been cheating on him with a friend of his.
11:11PM.
Write from the perspective of someone who has severe lapses in memory.
The secretary has a weird way of classifying files.
A man gives his wife the same birthday present every year.
Include the neon NaNoWriMo ML shirt in your novel.
Your character discovers that all stories that he/she has ever written (all books, plays, screenplays, poems, everything) are all true and real somewhere, and all exist in separate alternate realities.
Two small girls whom are best friends- One shares the secret that she is being abused makes othe girl promise not to tell. The girl tells and the abused girl gets taken away.

When a sorceress goes overboard and uses her cards to control people, the 'cards' rebel and attack her.
A Chinese radical begins smuggling secret messages by means of fortune cookies.
