About

The Writing Project is a project created by and for the Filipino National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) community members, as an in-between activity while everyone waited for November to come and bring in the craziness. This is a writing activity that hopes to help bond the community members to one another by way of continuing each other’s stories and to keep the creative juices flowing even when the 50,000 word novel challenge is not yet happening.

Take note that the pieces created in this project are hardly edited, so if you’re looking for prize-winning pieces, you most probably won’t find it here (although one of these pieces may bring about an award winning thing, but that’s another story). This is the place where young Pinoy novelists show their imagination and creativity, where little bits of inspiration can be found…somewhat. :)

Why “The Writing Project”?

Because the current Municipal Liaison of the Philippine NaNoWriMo group does not know what else to name it. Suggestions are welcome, though. :)

Rules and Posting Guidelines:

  1. The Writing Project is a monthly ongoing writing activity that allows each of the participant to contribute to one story every month. A story is opened at the start of the month, and the participant would continue the story, and another one would continue what the participant had written. The story goes on until the end of the month, where after which, a new story is started.
  2. Participants may continue the story at any point, but consecutive posts by one contributor is avoided as much as possible to bring in fresh ideas/twists from other people’s point of view.
  3. Stories will not be restricted by genre, but an initial genre will be picked at the start of the month, just to give a bit of direction. The genre COULD change as the month goes on, depending on the story.
  4. New characters may be introduced anytime into the story. Characters may die or disappear anytime too. ;)
  5. Posts can be very short (1 line, even 1 word) or very long (max of 3000 words).
  6. Stories are kept in a rating of PG-13.
  7. Posts must be kept within the story. Discussions about a certain part of the story can be done using the comments area of each post.
  8. If two people post at the same time after one post, the next poster can pick which story he/she will pick up. Please just post a note about which story you are following.
  9. Mind your grammar and spelling. Writing styles may differ, but please do keep the basic grammar and spelling rules in mind.
  10. Obviously, no flaming, no racist remarks/stories or anything degrading. The story may be REALLY bad, but it’s part of the process. :)
